BLAH BLAH BLAH

SWEET HOME ALABAMA - Posted on March 9, 2009
The above is one my favorite movies. Especially the part where the lightening makes glass on the beach. Just the kind of hokey artsy magic I love.

I am a Yankee by birth and have spent the last 12 years loving the south. I have never been to Alabama. But I have been invited to the one spot in Alabama that I have been dying to see - Fairhope! It's on Mobile Bay and I have been told that it's full of beautiful old homes and is a great arts community. The wonderful folks at Page and Palette have invited me to set up my traveling gypsy art show there while the famous Fairhope Annual Outdoor Art Show takes place.
This is the 37th show and it's one of the best in the country.

The dates are March 20-22, 2009 from 8 am to 5 pm. I'll be sitting outside with all my stuff - original art, architectural salvage things and lots of affordable prints and framed art and notecards and even some of the new Green art. You can check out Page and Palette at their website: www.pageandpalette.com. They were just featured in Southern Living/ Feb 2009. I can't wait!

COOL NEW ART - Posted on March 9, 2009
I am very excited about the newest addition to our line of art. It has been christened (drumroll, please....) "Green Is Good Art". It came to life, as most good ideas do, while I was trying to create something else.

In December I decided to try and develop a new product that would showcase my images, hang on the wall and be cost-effective. Emphasis on cost effective in this crazy new economy. I found a great printer with a magical big machine that can print on almost any surface. I brought a variety of materials to him to play with. My printer is kind and patient and everyone that works there is an artist of one kind or another. This works out well for me.
After we tried all my surfaces and didn't like any of them, the good printer suggested an industrial material that he used for really big jobs. It was a totally green board, nice and thick and made from recycled paper products. So we tried it and the art looked wonderful. The inks are low in volatile organic compounds ( the stinky stuff that's bad to breathe).
"Green Is Good Art" was introduced at the Atlanta Gift Market in January and was a very happy success. I met all my goals - it's affordable, it looks great on the wall and it's environmentally sound AND made in the USA! It doesn't get much better than that.

NEW YEAR, NEW ART, NEW CUSTOMERS - Posted on January 22, 2008
I'm always excited for the New Year to begin. The end of the old year is spent sketching, planning and painting. When January rolls around I get to bring my new art to market, see old friends, meet new gallery owners and gather ideas and feedback. The Atlanta Gift Show was very good and we're now busy getting ready for The New York market.
I am lucky to be able to mix the wholesale business with retail art shows. I'll be exhibiting at the Trinity School Show in Atlanta when I get back from NY. You can check out the dates on my calendar.

Great Gift Show - Posted on July 24, 2007

Our trip to the Atlanta Gift Show was just terrific! Got to see lots of good old customers and catch up on what's new. We also got to meet many new customers with very cool stores and galleries. The brand new giclees were really popular. HGTV came in and filmed the giclees for a show that will be broadcast in November. What a neat experience that was. Many thanks to Nancy Glass Productions for finding us and liking the work!

AMERICASMART ATLANTA 7/07 - Posted on June 22, 2007
Good News!! I will be exhibiting at the Atlanta Gift Show next month. I'm sharing a space with Graymoss Galleries - www.graymossgalleries.com. They market my framed art. I'll be showing the new limited edition giclees and will have some one of a kind architectural salvage pieces for sale.

I'm really looking forward to it - I haven't been to market in 3 years. We will be in the Handcrafted Section, Building 3, 2nd floor, Booth #806 - July 13 - 17th. We hope to see you there!
