BLAH BLAH BLAH

NEW YEAR, NEW ART, NEW CUSTOMERS - Posted on January 22, 2008
I'm always excited for the New Year to begin. The end of the old year is spent sketching, planning and painting. When January rolls around I get to bring my new art to market, see old friends, meet new gallery owners and gather ideas and feedback. The Atlanta Gift Show was very good and we're now busy getting ready for The New York market.
I am lucky to be able to mix the wholesale business with retail art shows. I'll be exhibiting at the Trinity School Show in Atlanta when I get back from NY. You can check out the dates on my calendar.

Our trip to the Atlanta Gift Show was just terrific! Got to see lots of good old customers and catch up on what's new. We also got to meet many new customers with very cool stores and galleries. The brand new giclees were really popular. HGTV came in and filmed the giclees for a show that will be broadcast in November. What a neat experience that was. Many thanks to Nancy Glass Productions for finding us and liking the work!

AMERICASMART ATLANTA 7/07 - Posted on June 22, 2007
Good News!! I will be exhibiting at the Atlanta Gift Show next month. I'm sharing a space with Graymoss Galleries - www.graymossgalleries.com. They market my framed art. I'll be showing the new limited edition giclees and will have some one of a kind architectural salvage pieces for sale.

I'm really looking forward to it - I haven't been to market in 3 years. We will be in the Handcrafted Section, Building 3, 2nd floor, Booth #806 - July 13 - 17th. We hope to see you there!

Italy and Art June 2007 - Posted on June 22, 2007
I just returned from an amazing trip to visit our cousin Pati in Anversa degli Abruzzi. She owns Abruzzi Mountain Workshops and teaches small classes there every spring and summer. After years of talking about visiting I had enough Skymiles to get a ticket to Rome! The 11th century village of Anversa is about 2 hours east of Rome, nestled in the Appenines. We would wake every day to tea on the patio and watch the clouds sitting on the mountain peaks. Morning tea was the time to inspect the garden and decide what we might use for our dinner that night. Nino is an octagenarian who has lived in Anversa (pop. 300) for his entire life. He keeps his "passione" in a stable behind Patrizia's house - chickens and sheep and pigs and a donkey. Some mornings on his way to tend his "passiones" he would leave a gift of herbs or flowers. Bellissima!

I got to sit in the piazza with cafe or vino and watch the lucky Anversans drift in and out. A side trip to the island of Ishcia for the thermal baths and fresh seafood was the frosting on the cake.

LIfe in Italia is slow, sweet and full of friends and incredible food. If you ever wanted to take a workshop or just get away with a group of friends for a truly Italian experience - the Abruzzi Mountain Workshops are it. Check out the website at www.artworkshopitaly.com.

Beginnings - Posted on June 19, 2007
I was born with a love for crayons and new drawing paper. The possibilities of a clean white page still make me happy and hopeful.

My career began in corporate design studios. I was fortunate to work as a designer of children’s wear, toys and crafts. I also got to do a bit of photo styling along the way. In 1992 I created my own studio, Painted Pieces. I began designing and painting one of a kind pieces of antique furniture. The furniture business evolved into the framed prints
of my images that are sold today through retail shops and catalogs.

Recently I have begun to sell original paintings andarchitectural salvage characters to galleries across the country. I like the balance created by working in three dimensions.

My subject matter has always been inspired by my life as a mother and wife and artist. Juggling those roles and trying to do each one well is a universal experience.

I’m grateful every day to be able to work at something I love.
